Camden Yards
When Oriole Park at Camden Yards opened on April 6, 1992, a new era of Major League Baseball began. The park was brand new but still old-fashioned. State-of-the-art, yet quaint. At less than a day old, it was already a classic.
To manage the parking at this venue, WPS parking controls were selected due to their versatility, reliability, and ease of use.
About the project
Camden yards consist of 21 lanes of parking controls which provide quick and easy ingress and egress from the venue.
There are 11 entrance lanes and 11 exit lanes. Some of the lanes function as reversing lanes that allow even more control of traffic flow depending on if the visitors are arriving at the facility or exiting the facility.
To better serve the public, long-range RFID readers are used, which allow the access card to be read with the card being about 1 foot, .035 meters, from the reader. This
makes seasonal card holders’ entry and exits from the facility much easier than standard RFID readers.
Payment methods include the use of our Pay on Foot Stations. These stations collect payment in the form of cash, coin, and credit card. Payment is as simple as insert the ticket, dip your credit card, press the button for your receipt, and then take the ticket. The paid ticket can then be inserted at exit, and if the exit grace time has not been exceeded, they gate will vend the parker may leave.
If the parker forgets to pay at the pay station, or has exceeded their grace time, credit card payment at the exit station is possible. Once the ticket has been inserted, the charge displays on the screen and the parker can pay with credit card. Once the payment is complete, they can choose to take a receipt and then exit the lot.
Camden Yard uses the WPS ParkID web-based software to manage the facility. The ParkID product uses an IP-based modular architecture. ParkID has been specifically developed for today and tomorrow’s interconnected world. Enabling you to manage your parking systems and associated technologies like payments, CCTV, intercom, License Plate Recognition (LPR / ANPR) and your parking management, reliably and consistently, through a single integrated network.
